Office Space (minus the case of the Mondays)

Today is the Home Tour. I didn't participate last week since it was kids' rooms and there are none in my house. This week is home offices. That I do have! Be sure and check out Kelly's Korner Blog for hundreds more home offices. Literally. Click here.

This is the view of my office as you come up the stairs. One of the thing I liked most about this house is that this area is the landing at the top of the stairs. Thus, you can have an office area without taking one of the bedrooms to become an office. (It is pretty messy for my standards, but figured I'd show you real life.) Again, notice the arch. They are repeated a lot in my house and I love them! I don't use my office a whole lot since I have a laptop. I used to keep it upstairs so I wouldn't waste as much time on it...I should probably do that again!

A closer view of the bookshelf (that I brought from my home home when I moved). You can see some of the pictures on there, including 3 of the weddings I've been in. The gold award is one I won in my nursing class when we graduated. It's the Name-Name-Name-Farquar Service Learning Award. (It has a lot of names that I don't recall). This is one of the pictures on the bookshelf you saw in the previous picture. It is of me and my parents on NYE going into 2004. I came down in a "crazy hat" and separately mom and dad put one on to. We sat there in the den with our crazy hats and each other watching the ball drop. It is a great memory of mine.
My diploma. I worked freaking hard for this piece of paper. As I like to say "College. The one thing I'm so glad I did that I would never ever do again!" And not to toot my own horn, but notice it does say Magna Cum Laude on there!

The opposite wall from the diploma. There are collage frames on either side. In the middle is a framed display of my high school graduation announcement and name card. The teacher I did Buddies to Youth with (and mother of a classmate for 15 years, including preschool) gave this to me. I just realized that it's funny I have this at my house and not the diploma.

A view to the left as you walk into the office. Kerry, you'll be proud of this. My friend Bridget gave me this couch! (She's also the one that gave me several dishes for the kitchen and the rugs in the living room and my bedroom!) Man, as I look at my house room by room I didn't pay for a lot of these things! The door to the left goes to the yellow room.

A view of the wall with the desk. You'll see my printer and my "junk" that is necessary! That door goes to the blue room.

A view going back down the steps, with the windows I need to put some sort of treatment up there. To the left, you'll see the class composite of all the girls I graduated nursing school with. On the right is the Army Nurse Corps Award I won. There is a surprise in the door to the left but you'll just have to stay tuned to see what's in there!!

Well, there is my office! Thanks for touring!

Kelly really needs to do this again when I have my own house someday! It would be so much fun!

I just had to respond to your comment on my blog: AMEN! You said it sista. Seriously. Every Christmas card I see says Love, The Smith's. NO! You don't own yourselves like that. You are plural - more than 1 person in you're (kidding...just had to catch your eye) YOUR family.

Love,
The Smiths :)
