Bathrooms

It's that time again! I'm doing the Home Tour over at Kelly's blog. I'm not sure why the pictures are over to side, but I'll roll with it. My house has one and a half baths. That half bath does make a difference with company (which I never have) but am still glad to have the half. The full bath is downstairs next to my bedroom. It is outdated and is the one room i the house that I would like to redo. The problem is I know I am unable to do that myself and I don't know who to call to do it. But it works for me, for now. Fun fact, it is the only room in my house that I painted when I moved in.

I hate to clean my bathroom. Like hate hate. It just seems like a waste since I live alone and it's rare that somebody besides me uses it. One of the older nurses I work with tells me that I should pay somebody to mow my yard. I say I like to mow, but I'd love have somebody come clean my bathroom!! In fact, I took these pictures a few weeks ago after I had cleaned it top to bottom. I touched up the paint on it yesterday and did a few things so I'm feeling a bit better about it. Regardless, the status of my bathroom doesn't keep me up at night. I feel blessed to even have a house.

This is the view looking in from the front. If you walked straight in the front door and through the living room door, you'd end up in the bathroom. I'd love to have a pedestal sink and new light fixtures if nothing else. The tile is date, but pretty clean. My house was built in 1937. I do not think it's the original tile but am not sure. The shower has a window in it so it gets a lot of light at least.

I got this print from my brother-in- law's sister. (That might sound weird but we're from a small town where everybody knows everybody. Plus we went to church together). The colors matched well and it looks great... over the toilet! Ha.

A view of the sink and my storage shelves. I had these in college. I have thought about getting something more "grown up" to put here. You know, something with doors, perhaps, so you won't see all my stuff laying out. But the miser side of me thinks "If it ain't broke don't fix it". Now that I'm looking at it...it does look pretty terrible doesn't it?? You can also see the tile on the floor pretty good in this shot.

One thing I never realized until I did this home tour is that I've been blessed with a ton of closet space in this house. The master closet isn't that big but all the others make up for, especially since I live alone and they are all mine!! :-) Here is a shot of the (messy-- at least for me!) bathroom closet. I keep my laundry basket at the bottom of this closet, but didn't figure you needed to see that!

Remember in my office post when I said there was a surprise behind the one door! This is it! The couple that lived here before me converted this storage closet into a bathroom! (They also replaced the window, the sewage lines, and all the light fixtures!) My friends call it the SB for 'secret bathroom'. It kinda reminds me of Harry Potter!
Since it used to be a closet in a house built in 1937 it's obviously small but it works fine. It's nice whenever there is somebody staying upstairs they can use this bathroom instead of having to come downstairs in the middle of the night. Again, the towels, kleenex box cover, and soap dispenser are all from my friend Bridget. She's a giving gal, huh?
This was kinda hard to get a picture of since the back wall is mirrored 1. because I didn't want the flash to be too much and 2. because I'd just gotten back from the gym and didn't want you to see me!!

They really did a great job doing this. This boarder really does look like tile, and the floor is tile. The little shelves hold some knickknacks that can easily be moved if a guest wanted to put their things here.

This last pictures has nothing to do with bathrooms but it makes me chuckle. These new couches have "legs" on them and the cats knock their toys underneath here. Here you see Conan (on top of a big pile of mail you should ignore) crawling underneath to get the mouse. Makes me think of "Fat guy in a little coat" except "Fat* cat and a little couch".

*Those of you who know me know I don't use this 'F' word in my house. It was inserted here for comedic value only.

I hope you enjoyed!

What a fun secret bathroom!! Your tile looks 500x better than what's in this house we have!

Love the bathrooms. The secret bathroom is so cool, however my head would always be sore from hitting it on the wall slope!
